Bayern Munich s 4-1 win at Augsburg on Saturday rubber-stamped a sixth consecutive Bundesliga title.
Popular veteran Jupp Heynckes – whose side showed their class in a 6-0 drubbing of Borussia Dortmund last weekend – steered the Bavarian giants to the latest success of their streak, having masterminded the 2012-13 title triumph as part of a historic treble.
Pep Guardiola then oversaw three out of three, although he was unable to replicate Heynckes European success – making Bayern the first side to win the Bundesliga on four consecutive occasions.
Carlo Ancelotti steered a smooth route through 2016-17 before being relieved of his duties following an unconvincing start this time around, but Heynckes wasted little time in getting the ship back on course.…
David Beckham s loan to Italy s AC Milan will not last long enough to keep the England star away from the Los Angeles Galaxy when the 2009 Major League Soccer season begins in March, the league boss says.
Don Garber, commissioner of the US football league, said in a statement that the anticipated loan of Beckham from the Galaxy to AC Milan would end in time for him to play for the Galaxy at the start of next season.
Discussions have taken place between AC Milan and the Los Angeles Galaxy regarding the possibility of a short-term loan agreement that would allow David Beckham to play for AC Milan during the MLS offseason, Garber said.
Those discussions are ongoing. David remains an L.A. Galaxy player and will be here for the start of the 2009 MLS season.

The home stretch of the season is always a challenge for NFL betting.
Now, COVID-19 throws a wrench into the mix, hitting teams hard over the past week and forcing the league to shuffle the schedule. We still have eight teams in action Monday and Tuesday, so NFL Week 16 odds are rolling out slowly.
We normally preach planning your attack by betting some spreads and totals now and waiting for moves on others. However, with a growing uncertainty around outbreaks, it can make the “Bet Now” part of this weekly article riskier.
That said, we move forward with our NFL Week 16 spreads and totals to bet now and the best lines to bet later. Be safe out there.

The Philadelphia Eagles enter their Week 10 prime-time matchup with the Washington Commanders as a double-digit favorite for the third straight week.
The game script might favor the pass from the visitors, but as we saw last week with Houston, teams can run against the Eagles and have success.
Here are my best NFL player prop picks for Monday Night Football’s match between the Commanders and Eagles. You can also check out our Commanders vs. Eagles picks and predictions and our Jalen Hurts spotlight prop picks.

The last two weeks of the NFL odds have featured some matches with game-altering weather conditions, which should come as no surprise as we enter the deep of winter.
We saw the Falcons and Panthers slog through a 9-7 game in gusts and rain; we saw the Dolphins rely on their ground game due to high winds; and we saw the Bears and Browns rely more on the short to intermediate areas of their passing attack in 20+ MPH winds.
Week 16 odds bring a more timid slate of weather, but there is still much to cover.

The Tennessee Titans seek to cap a perfect NFL preseason when they travel to play the New Orleans Saints this afternoon and our Titans vs. Saints predictions expect them to at least get off to a strong start.
Tennessee hopes Will Levis can take a big step forward in Year 2 as they look to compete for an AFC South title. We break down their chances on Sunday in our NFL picks below.
Titans vs Saints prediction
My best betTitans first quarter -0.5 (+110 at DraftKings)
My analysisWith the Tennessee Titans set to run their starters out for multiple series and reports indicating the New Orleans Saints will hold many of their key starters out, I’m backing the Titans to be ahead when the first quarter comes to a close.
Wayne Rooney believes there are exciting times ahead for England after he played a key role in securing their place at the FIFA World Cup.
The Manchester United striker s seventh goal in six Group H games put his country on course for the victory over Poland on Tuesday night that ensured they will board the plane to Brazil next year.
Skipper Steven Gerrard put the icing on the cake with a second goal to seal a 2-0 win on a nervous night for Roy Hodgson s side at Wembley.
The three points ensured England finished top of the group and avoided the play-offs, with Ukraine consigned to second spot.
And Rooney believes England can head to South America with great optimism.
He told ITV Sport: We have always remained positive. We have had a great belief in ourselve…
Didier Deschamps acknowledged Spain were superior as France suffered Euro 2024 elimination following their 2-1 semi-final defeat in Munich.
Les Bleus opened the scoring after just eight minutes through Randal Kolo Muani s header, though Lamine Yamal levelled with a long-range stunner, becoming the youngest scorer in major tournament history at the age of just 16 years and 362 days.
Dani Olmo seized on that momentum swing just four minutes later, dancing through the France defence before finishing past Mike Maignan as Jules Kounde was unable to clear on the line.
Spain held on to move into Sunday s final as France opened the scoring and lost for only the second time in a European Championship game, after a 3-2 defeat to the Netherlands in the 2000 group stages.
Arsene Wenger is keen for Arsenal to show how far they have come since a New Year s Day nightmare when they return to Southampton.
Arsenal slumped to a dispiriting 2-0 loss at St Mary s on the first day of 2015 a defeat that still rankles with their long-serving boss.
However, almost 12 months on as they prepare for a Boxing Day assignment on the south coast, Arsenal have collected 78 points during the calendar year 10 more than any other Premier League team and are primed for a tilt at the title after Monday s stirring 2-1 win over Manchester City closed them to within two points of leaders Leicester City.
Every loss hurts and that one has not gone out of my mind, Wenger told Arsenal Player. It was a bad moment for us but also a turning point because we res…
Influential midfielder Vince Grella has returned but the Australian squad will be without Brett Emerton and probably Harry Kewell for next week s key 2010 World Cup Asian qualifier to face Japan in Yokohama.
Grella, the Blackburn Rovers holding midfielder, was named in a 22-man squad by coach Pim Verbeek on Tuesday for the February 11 showdown with Australia s chief regional rivals.
Grella missed Australia s last three qualifying wins over Uzbekistan, Qatar and Bahrain through injury.
But Verbeek will be without Grella s Blackburn teammate Emerton, who has been ruled out for the remainder of the English Premier League season with a cruciate knee ligament injury.
The Socceroos will also likely be without Harry Kewell, who is recovering from an abdominal h…
